Mary Kay- Sales

Hello lovelies!

So a couple of weeks ago I attended my very first Mary Kay party! There I was treated to a luxurious satin hands treatment, had a wonderful facial cleansing class, and applied/tested makeup. I ordered a couple of things, and my mom and my sister did as well. Let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised with this company. Their products are AMAZING. Everything I tried I have loved so far. I love love love love love love love my new medium coverage foundation, and is the only liquid foundation that works on my skin. Their ultimate mascara is AWESOME, and their eye cream (I use my mom's) is so so so good. I thought Mary Kay was a company that sold cheaper cosmetics like Avon (don't get me wrong I love Avon, and I do buy products from their company and love that they don't test on animals). However, Mary Kay, in my opinion, is an upscale brand with exceptional quality. I am comparing these products to other brands that I use every day such as MAC and Nars.

So as I was sitting there my mom kept mentioning to me how good I would be at this; My sales director asked me a week later if I would want to attend another party were the national sales director would be attending, and could think about signing up to be a Mary Kay consultant/sales person. I was very skeptical at first, and almost cancelled going. But when I got there I listened to the National Sales Director's story, how much she makes, what Mary Kay is all about etc... and decided WHAT THE HECK! It sounds fun, Makeup is something I am passionate about, and I could earn some extra money at school because with Mary Kay you decide when you work and that is perfect for a University students lifestyle. With no other job can I decide that I have a midterm next week so I better study and I will work when the midterm is over, with any other job I do not get tax deductions, and with any other job I don't make 50% commission on all my sales. Also did I mention that I get all the products at 50% off!

So I signed the dotted line, paid 125$ for a starter kit (which I will receive on thursday or friday of this week), and I am officially a Mary Kay representative! As exciting as this all is, I am feeling a little bit skeptical, and am worried. What if I am bad at hosting parties, what if no one buys from me? What if I FAIL! But I keep putting it in retrospective for myself: if I fail oh well you tried something new, as long as you try you will meet your quota (200$ a year which is nothing), and you are PASSIONATE about makeup Jessica you will not fail because makeup is something you are good at and love.

All the Mary Kay ladies at the meeting were all saying "omg your going to be a natural. Once the ladies take a look at you they are going to want to buy everything". That made me feel good, and I hope they weren't just saying that to make me sign. Anyways I am truly excited to start Mary Kay, and I am a little nervous (which is normal right?). Like this is something totally new, it is MY OWN BUSINESS for goodness sakes! I think if I just focus on my passion for makeup, and my love for helping people, and not focus on the pressure of selling I will be successful!

Genuine Health Perfect Skin Supplements- The quest for healthy skin

So if you have been watching my YouTube videos you know that I am on the quest for perfect skin, and have been trying out new things lately. I don't think I will stop testing things until I have succeeded. Along this journey I have had a couple of bumps, such as my Clinique experience. I tried the Clinique three step skin care system (number three) because they have a guarantee for clearer/healthier skin; Let me tell you my skin was anything but clear or healthy. My whole forehead was covered in acne, like every pore was a pimple, and I started breaking out on other areas of my face such as my chin and cheeks (which very very very rarely happens to me). Anyways I stopped using it after 2 weeks and sent it back to the Clinique headquarters in Toronto to get my money back (still waiting on the cheque). I started using the Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Cleanser, the St. Ives Apricot scrub, and Clindoxyl Gel which is available through prescription! My face was sooooo clear when I started using these products, but after about a month they stopped having such a dramatic effect, and my skin started to break out a little as it did before I used the Clinique three step system.

So I again started researching for products that would improve my skin. This time instead of using a topical product to stop my breakouts I decided to try and solve the problem from the inside. I started looking into vitamins and supplements to stop the root of the problem. In my local shoppers drug mart flyer I had seen the Perfect Skin vitamin supplements made my Genuine Health advertised and decided to research them online. Overall the product got crappy ratings, and because they are so expensive I decided not to try them. A lot of people who reviewed the product suggested taking Zinc, which is a medical ingredient that is included within the Perfect Skin supplements. After 3 weeks I noticed nothing different. Frustrated, I rushed to my drug store and picked up the perfect skin supplements. They were $30 for 60 caplets, and you have to take 4 caplets each day. This is only a two week supply, and it takes a month for the product to work in full effect. I have been taking it for just over a week now, and I notice a HUGE difference. My face is clear, and wayyyy less oily. I still have one breakout, but it is very small and not inflamed. That is also another thing I notice even if I do breakout, they are not red or infected and disappear in 2-4 days.

Now this could all just be good timing, as I have only been taking these pills for a short time and my face could just be clear by fluke. Once I run out of the pills I am going to purchase another bottle and keep using them to see how my skin looks after a month. If I see the results I have right now I have decided to not buy the Perfect Skin supplements again, but buy the ingredients individually that are within the Perfect Skin supplements. This will be waaaaayyyy cheaper. The active medical ingredients in the Perfect Skin supplements are:

id System enteric-coated EPA-rich fish oil concentrate (from anchovy and sardines)500mg
EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid)250mg
EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) from green tea extract50mg
Zinc (gluconate)3.75mg
Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol)2.5mg
Selenium (L-selenomethionine)50mcg
Chromium (citrate)50mcg
Non-medicinal ingredients:
Gelatin, glycerin, beeswax, lecithin, purified water, aqueous coating solution.
Those are the measurements for each pill, so you would take four doses of these measurements daily. After a month you can start taking two pills as a maintenance dose. The Perfect Skin supplements are made for people who lack dietary vitamins which are essential for healthy skin. Given that I am a vegetarian, I find it hard to get all my vitamins and nutrients which is probably what causes my bad skin.

Genuine Health claims that " Unlike topical acne products or medications which provide short term relief and leave your skin dry and dehydrated, while accelerating the aging process, perfect skin works from the inside out for the healthiest, most effective results in as little as 4 weeks."

and that

" Results you can expect with perfect skin include:
• Reduced acne lesion and blackhead/blemish count
• Reduced inflammation of acne lesions and blackheads/blemishes
• Decreased sebum production, follicle blockage
• Normalized structure, size and function of pores
• Increased resilience to stress and regulation of mood "

you can find this information on their website: http://www.genuinehealth.com/perfect-skin.html

So in combination with a healthy skin care routine which involves cleansing, treating, exfoliating, and hydrating (yes, you need to hydrate even if you have oily skin) and using the Perfect Skin supplements I believe i will have the "perfect" skin. I will keep you guys updated on how this products continues to work!

There is also a male version of these supplements which cater to the nutrients needed for mens skin.
